The Cove was born out of lockdown. Good friends Amy Lethbridge and Phil Reid have realised an exciting new venture that celebrates independent makers and creators.
Lockdown has shown how important the High Street should be to local communities, particularly to small aspiring brands and businesses. Amy and Phil wanted to bring a personal touch back to the Royal Tunbridge Wells that creates an environment reflective of the surroundings and built by partnering with UK, small-batch creators with a passion for their product.
A premium retail and hospitality experience, The Cove pairs a flagship physical store with an informative, design-led e-commerce destination. Providing a luxury, seasonal floristry service, we supplement this with stocking a curated product-list that alternates throughout the year – with one key principle:
We support aspiring product designers and distillers, championing the growing local demand for high quality, small-batch created goods. Stocking a purposefully slim-line of products, these are not found in traditional supermarkets or outlets.
Including but not limited to gin, rum, vodka, sparkling wine, chocolate, coffee, pottery and of course flowers, we have created a unique destination. Our concept places flowers as the principle of our entire customer experience. Paired with beautiful, independently made artisan products, we create the opportunity to discover, learn and enjoy something new. All products can be enjoyed within our fantastic bar area (open late Friday and Saturday!), whilst we run bespoke courses that cover floristry and tasting combinations to suit your social bubble.
In sourcing producers who make their products with exceptional care and dedication, we provide a brand footprint on the High Street that they would not normally find possible. Connecting these products directly to customers, we encourage tasting and discovery – delivering an exceptional experience along the way.
Amy, as a skilled florist who has been delivering beautiful event creations for years thought The Cove was a perfect opportunity to make a permanent home for others to enjoy her flowers. Beautifully complemented by handmade pottery, coffee from Monmouth roastery and chocolate from Land The Cove is a treasure trove of incredible produce.
With a background in brand creation, Phil owns and runs Studiomade – a digital brand agency based close to Tower Bridge, London, with an interest in bringing ideas to life through product and venture creation. Both Amy and Phil were able to achieve a sophisticated look and feel designed uniquely by Studiomade that allows customers to make their own discoveries.
The physical store and digital website provide environments where customers can take their time – with nothing shouting at them on where to go and what to do. Creating emotional connections with customers can be difficult to master but the stories and passion behind each and every product are what is so key to The Cove.
“In the store these stories can be shared by The Cove team, spreading the individual origin about each product. By sharing their real value and point of difference, people have the opportunity to discover something new that they would never normally consider.”
In a time where brand authenticity and human connection have never been so important, The Cove seeks to bring that personal touch back to retail and hospitality.
